Investing in Our Youth’s Future

Enabling our Youth with Business
& Information Technology Education.

Helping Minds Foundation (HMF) is
a leading non-profit organization in the United States that focuses on business
and Information technology (IT) focused education for high school to higher education students.
By providing our youth with the knowledge and vocabulary of business and IT, we
give them the essential tools to create financial and career stability and
opportunity for themselves, their families, and their communities. We are working backward from our long-term goal of improving at least 1 Billion lives in the next 8-12 years.

Our Challenge

Across the globe, we (as a society) spend billions of dollars to help our youth mastering reading, writing, and mathematics. At this point we send them out into the world lacking the basic skills that are needed to prosper in today’s technologically advanced society: understanding information technology and it’s applications in the business world.

Important Facts on Education in Developing Countries

  1. In most developing countries, public school is not free. The costs of
books, uniforms, and teachers’ salaries are borne by the students’ families.

  2. 67 million primary-school-age children are still denied the right to
    education.

  3. More than 226 million children do not attend secondary school.

  4. Illiteracy is highest amongst females. In more than 20 developing
countries, illiteracy rates amongst women exceed 70%.

  5. Children born to educated mothers are less likely to be stunted or
malnourished. In fact, each additional year of maternal education helps reduce
the child mortality rate by 2%.

  6. In developing, low-income countries, every additional year of education
can increase a person’s future income by an average of 10%.

  7. A 10 to 20% increase in women’s wages is associated with each additional
    year of schooling.

  8. When women and girls receive an income, they re-invest 90% of their
    income into their families
, as opposed to 30-40% for men.

  9. In 2012, there were 168 million child labor workers aged 5 to 17. This is one reason many children cannot attend school.
